A
work of intuitive cultural geography, Notes
for a New Map is the
first publication of Georgia Map Office. The title refers to a map
that would include not only the usual topographic features, but also
the elements of a cosmology: what is above and what is below, what
came before and what will come after. This is a map that would, by
design, include the memories and preoccupations of the map maker.
It is worth noting that Notes is an act of the poetic imagination,
not an act of scholarship. This pamphlet is composed of elements
collected for a work-in-progress, The End Of
Cartographic Progression In Georgia.
